The Nigerian House of Representatives has issued a decisive order to the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), demanding the immediate shutdown of all pornographic websites accessible in the country.
In a move to clamp down on explicit content, lawmakers directed the NCC to enforce strict compliance among internet service providers, ensuring that access to adult material is completely restricted.
The resolution, spearheaded by Dalhatu Tafoki of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Katsina State, comes amid rising global concerns over the spread of cyber pornography.
Tafoki lamented that despite the growing threat, Nigeria has failed to implement robust measures to curb access to obscene material.
According to Tafoki, Nigeria’s cultural and religious values leave no room for unchecked exposure to adult content.
He underscored that both Christianity and Islam vehemently oppose nudity and obscenity, making the urgent action necessary to uphold public morality.
With this directive, the House of Representatives has drawn a clear battle line against pornographic websites, setting the stage for a nationwide crackdown on explicit content.
