Ondo Gov inauguration: Security deploys personnel

In a bid to ensure a hitch-free swearing-in ceremony for Ondo State Governor, Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, and his Deputy, Dr. Olayide Adelami, the Ondo State Security Network Agency, codenamed Amotekun Corps, has deployed 700 officers and men for security operations across the state.

The Commander of the Amotekun Corps, Akogun Adetunji Adeleye, made this known in an exclusive interview with Weekend Hope in Akure, the state capital.

According to the state government’s official programme, the inauguration is billed for Monday, February 24, 2025, at the Akure Sports Complex.

Adeleye disclosed that strategic security measures have been mapped out to ensure the safety of lives and property, as well as the smooth movement of people before, during, and after the event.

“We have conducted our assessments and delineated operational redlines. A total of 700 officers have been strategically deployed to maintain law and order across the state,” he stated.

Commending Governor Aiyedatiwa for lifting the curfew earlier imposed on Owo community in Owo Local Government Area, Adeleye described the decision as a crucial step towards restoring normalcy while ensuring a secure environment.

He, however, issued a stern warning to criminals, urging them to stay away from the state, adding that Amotekun operatives are on high alert across all 18 local government areas.

“There is no hiding place for criminals. Our men are battle-ready to confront any security threat,” Adeleye declared.

He also urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities within their communities for prompt intervention by security operatives.

“We must heighten our security consciousness. Citizens must conduct themselves in an orderly manner while we work to maintain a peaceful atmosphere during this period,” he added.

Adeleye assured that Amotekun has put in place a robust security framework with proactive crime prevention strategies to safeguard every part of the state, leaving no room for criminal activities.
