Jigawa Swears In 19 New Shari’a Court Judges

The Jigawa State Judicial Service Commission has sworn in 19 newly appointed Shari’a Court Judges (Alkalis) in a formal ceremony held at the Judicial Complex in Dutse.

The Director of Publicity and Protocol for the State Judiciary, Abbas Rufa’i Wangara, confirmed the appointments in a statement issued to newsmen. He noted that the new Alkalis underwent a rigorous selection and training process to ensure their expertise in Islamic law and their commitment to justice.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Chief Judge and Chairman of the Judicial Service Commission, Hon. Justice Umar M. Sadiq, charged the newly appointed judges to discharge their duties with diligence, fairness, and impartiality.

He emphasized the need for them to uphold the principles of Shari’a law while maintaining integrity and avoiding corruption.

“The judiciary plays a crucial role in ensuring justice, and it is your duty to interpret Islamic law with honesty and professionalism. The public expects you to be upright and just in your decisions,” Justice Sadiq stated.

Similarly, the Grand Kadi, Hon. Kadi Sani Salihu, urged the appointees to remain law-abiding and uphold the ethical standards of their office. He cautioned them against engaging in corrupt practices, reminding them that their conduct would be closely observed by the public.

The event, which drew high-ranking judicial officers, judiciary staff, and family members of the appointees, marked a significant milestone in the state’s efforts to strengthen its Shari’a court system.
