Breaking: Four Reported Dead, Scores Allegedly Shot As Crisis Hits Osun Community Over Kingship

No fewer than four people have been feared dead, with twenty-five people reportedly shot after a crisis erupted from the appointment of Prince Timileyin Oluyemi Ajayi as the Olojudo of Ido-Ayegunle, a town in Obokun Local Government Area of Osun State by the state government.

Ido-Ayegunle is a town between Ijebu-Ijesa and Esa-Oke.

Report indicates that the dispute which started over the weekend snowballed into a communal crisis between as indigenes of town alleged that the monarch was from Ilesa.

A social media post by an indigene of one of the town, said the casualties were allegedly shot during a clash on Monday.

“There’s a war going on in Esa Oke between Ilesha people and Esa Oke indigenes,” a source told Journalist.

“Ilesha people want to crown in a king in Ido Ayeginle in Esa Oke, but the indigenes are strongly opposed to it,” the source said.

He disclosed that the disagreement degenerate into a war this Monday morning, February 3, 2025.

The incident has thrown residents and indigenes of the towns into palpable fear, as many scrambled for safety.
