Oyetola Is Our Sole Candidate For 2026 Gov’ship, Osun APC Chairmen Reaffirms

News Update

THE Forum of Osun APC Chairmen has reaffirmed its support for Alhaji Adegboyega Oyetola, the immediate past governor of Osun State and current Minister of Blue and Economy, as their preferred candidate for the 2026 governorship election. The Forum members described Oyetola as their “compass and guide” and expressed their desire for him to contest the election to complete his constitutionally recognized two terms.

The Forum clarified that should the former governor decline to contest the 2026 election, he definitely would direct the path they would follow being the Apex Leader of the party in the state.

Speaking through its Chairman, Elder Rufus Awotidoye, the group said, ” Our Leader, Alhaji Adegboyega Oyetola, is our Candidate for the 2026 election. We want him to contest so he could complete his constitutionally recognized two terms.

Unless he declines to run, we are solidly behind him for the 2026 election. However, in the event that he chooses not to contest, we hold that he remains the main decider of whom the ticket should be extended to.”

The Forum stated that they believed in the good judgement of Oyetola and his capacity to show direction regarding 2026 because he has shown over the years that he is a stickler for equity, justice and fairness.”

At a luncheon held at the Osogbo residence of Engr Oluremi Omowaiye, Executive Director (Projects Implementation) of the Federal Housing Authority (FHA), the Forum praised Oyetola’s leadership and his ability to hold the party together. They also commended his financial and moral support for the party since November 2022.

The Forum further expressed its gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his support to Osun APC and reassured him of their continued support for his administration.

In his reaction, Omowaiye thanked the Forum members for their steadfastness and assured them of the party’s readiness to regain power in the state in 2026.

Omowaiye criticized the administration of Governor Ademola Adeleke, describing it as a “colossal failure” despite the state’s significant revenue accruals over the past 26 months.

He also appreciated Nigerians for their support to the Tinubu administration and reassured them that the President’s reforms in the petroleum and housing sectors would soon manifest.

“President Tinubu has mandated us to provide low cost and affordable housing for Nigerians and that is what we are striving to achieve at FHA,” Omowaiye explained.

In his admonition, the Apex Leader of APC in Atakumosa East, Elder J. Oni, urged members of the Forum to remain loyal to ex-Governor Oyetola and resist attempt to be misled by power mongers, stating that the minister would address all concerns in case he declines to recontest in 2026.

The meeting was attended by 58 of the 69 APC Chairmen in Osun State, as well as other prominent party leaders. They included Chief Adegboye Ajeleti, Apex Leader of APC in Ilesa West Local Government; Elder J. Oni, Apex Leader of APC in Atakumosa East Local Government; Hon. Kola Obeta, Alhaji Tajudeen Agbeti, State Exco member from Ilesa West and Hon Segun Olabode, former Chairman of Ilesa West Local Government.
