Nigerian Governor approves employment of health workers

News Update

Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe state has approved the employment of 424 health workers.

This was disclosed in a statement signed by Mamman Mohammed, the Director-General of Press and Media Affairs to the Governor.

According to the statement, the newly employed professionals include 205 nurses and midwives who graduated from the state-owned Shehu Sule College of Nursing and Midwifery, as well as 219 health technicians specializing in various fields.

“The employment was in line with the policy of providing accessible and affordable healthcare delivery to the people by his administration,” the statement read.

Governor Buni emphasized the importance of the new recruits in improving healthcare delivery across both rural and urban areas.

“The newly employed health workers are to be deployed in various health facilities to provide efficient services to people across the state,” he noted.

He further charged the recruits to be diligent and dedicated to their duties, urging them to justify the government’s confidence and investment in their training and recruitment.

“This decision reflects our commitment to placing healthcare delivery at the top of our administration’s priorities. We will continue to provide the necessary facilities, medical consumables, and qualified staff to enhance healthcare services in Yobe State,” Buni assured.

The governor reiterated his administration’s dedication to transforming the health sector, promising sustained efforts in equipping hospitals and supporting health workers for better service delivery.
