ADETIMEHIN: A RECURRING OBSTACLE TO HON. LUCKY AIYEDATIWA’S GROWTH
The issue of candidate imposition has dominated the media landscape for days, creating a tense atmosphere. Allegations of Ade Adetimehin’s involvement in either imposing candidates or orchestrating suspensions have raised critical questions about his motives and the broader implications for Ondo State’s political stability.
It is crucial to reflect on recent history when Adetimehin, alongside his associates—Babajide, Mummy Imo, Odu, and others—disrupted the political framework to undermine Hon. Lucky Aiyedatiwa’s emergence as acting governor. Despite these efforts, Hon. Aiyedatiwa’s eventual rise to prominence demonstrated divine intervention and the will of the people.
Unfortunately, even after the elections, Adetimehin’s actions suggest he has not learned from the past. His continued interference, including attempts to influence governance by strategically placing his allies across wards and local councils, speaks to a pattern of desperation and a quest for unchecked power. Notably, his initial preference for Chief Olusola Oke over Hon. Lucky in the primaries highlights his disregard for democratic processes and divine choice.
Ondo State’s political system should not be held hostage by individuals driven by personal interests. Such actions jeopardize the stability and progress of governance. During Aketi’s tenure, similar tactics created unnecessary tension, and it is crucial to ensure Hon. Lucky Aiyedatiwa does not face the same challenges.
Adetimehin has overstayed his influence in Ondo politics. It is time for him to step back and allow governance to thrive without his interference. He should be seen as a common threat not just to the APC but to the collective progress of the state. Ondo State deserves leaders who prioritize the people’s welfare over personal ambitions.
