News Update
Paschal Obi, a former member of the House of Representatives who represented the Ideato North and South Federal Constituency, has officially left the Labour Party (LP) and rejoined the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Obi was warmly welcomed back into the APC fold by the party’s expanded state executives, led by Macdonald Ebere, after formalizing his membership at both the ward and local government levels.
In his remarks, Obi expressed that he was motivated to return to the APC due to the significant infrastructural development he attributed to Governor Hope Uzodinma’s leadership in Imo State. He commended the state party leadership, under Ebere, for its strong governance, which, according to him, had contributed to the APC’s impressive performance at the grassroots level, particularly during the recent local government elections.
The former lawmaker pledged his continued support and loyalty to the APC, assuring the state party executives of his commitment to the party’s success.
Responding to Obi’s return, the State Chairman of the APC expressed his gratitude, acknowledging the decision as a valuable addition to the party’s strength in the state.
Obi’s political journey has been marked by several shifts. Prior to this return, he was a member of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), then moved to the APC, later switched to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), joined the Labour Party (LP), and has now made his way back to the APC. His political re-alignments reflect the dynamic and often fluid nature of Nigerian politics. Many political figures from Ideato South accompanied Obi to the event, signaling local support for his return to the APC.
