Man burns wife, kills self over unresolved dispute in Akure

Ondo State Police Command has disclosed that a middle-aged man killed himself and set his estranged wife ablaze in the state.

The Command, in a message on its X handle, recounted how the man invited his estranged wife to their home to collect her wardrobe but set her ablaze, killing himself.

The wife was left with serious burns.

“Mr A was married to Mrs A, but along the line, they had issues that made them stay apart.

“Mr A called Mrs A to come over and carry a wardrobe, when she got to the house, he started with threats of killing himself but later locked the door so that both of them would die together.

“Mr A with the aid of fuel and lighter sets himself and Mrs A ablaze. Mr A died on the spot while Mrs A had major burns, in less than 48 hours, Mrs A was referred to the 3rd Hospital. Stay Away from Toxic Partners,” the message read.
