Ogun State Police Command has confirmed the alleged killing of one Gideon Ebukwe by unknown armed men at Ok Winners Hotel, Igbosoro, Igode, Sagamu Local Government.
The State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Omolola Odutola, confirmed this in a statement, in Abeokuta on Tuesday.
Odutola said that at about 3:30 pm, a report of an incident involving a suspected assassination was made.
According to her, a group of five unidentified armed men arrived at Ok Winners Hotel in Igbosoro, and attacked a guest, Gideon Ebukwe, whose address was currently unknown.
“At the time of the attack, the hotel staff, mostly women, were locked in another room, while the assailants proceeded directly to the guest’s room.
“In an attempt to escape, the guest broke through the ceiling but was chased and shot dead, and his belongings were taken.
“Upon receiving the information, the divisional police officer led detectives to the scene. No arrest has been made, and the body was transported to Jas Medical Mortuary in Ogijo,” she said.
The police image maker added that investigation had commenced to unravel the nature of the crime, if it was cult related.
She said that the case would be transferred to the Police headquarters in Eleweran, Abeokuta, for a more discreet investigation.
