Osun State Independent Electoral Commission OSSIEC in collaboration with Justice, Development and Peace Makers’ Center (JDPMC) Osogbo, organized workshop themed Towards credible and successful 2025 Local Government Election

OSSIEC Chairman who doubles as Chief Host of treat noted that Electoral Commission is fully ready to discharge excellently and equally commend JDPMC for putting it upon themselves to partnering with the commission to organize such program that addresses important needs for a successful local government election about three months time
While talking, Barr. Wale Iyaniwura, The Chairman of the occasion, noted that traditional elites have personal assumptions about every elections that has shaped the mindset of the populace about elections at various level but a representation must be conducted to change the narrative
Politicians and Political Parties have neglected active preparation for Election for election transactions but the logic seems to be fading by the day. He then laud the OSSIEC for timely sensitization and open recruitment to carry generality of Osun people along towards achieving credible and successful election in the state.
In her speech, Barrister Veronica Eneh Onojah who spoke on behalf of Rev. FR. Peter Akinkinkunmi, General Coordinator Justice, Development and Peace Makers’ Center (JDPMC) commend OSSIEC for compliance with law provisions and their cooperation to move the state forward through public sensitization and setting the standard higher for other state to emulate.
Dr. A.O Ayilara, while talking about legal ways to curb Electoral crime noted that elections should not be seen as do or die as against the political impressions “Winner takes it all” he stated violence, electoral manipulation, rigging, vote buying amongst other crimes that could affect credibility of an election. He further noted Strengthening Electoral law, change of mind set, voters education and awareness
The workshop that lasted for about 4 hours was funded by the European union, had in attendance dignitaries from important department of the state.
