NIWA Boss, Oyebamiji Awards Full Scholarship To Osun-born Gold Medalist, Muminat Oyediran

… Muminat’s Sport Career, Education To Be Sponsored Up To University Level

As part of his philanthropic gestures, passion and strong conviction to the provision of quality and quantitative education, the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, National Inland Waterways Authority, NIWA, Bola Oyebamiji has awarded full scholarship for an Osun-born JSS3 Table Tennis Medalist, Muminat Oyediran, who has been found worthy in both learning and extra curricular activities.

Oyebamiji’s announcement came on the heels of Muminat’s outstanding performance at the just concluded 2024 Basic Education School Sports Competition (BESS Games), organized by the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC held in Abuja recently.

Recall that Muminat, a JSS3 student of Anwar-ul Islam Grammar School in Ikire, Irewole Local Government Area of Osun State, made her school, Osun and the entire Southwest region proud by clinching third place at the 2024 UBEC National Table Tennis competition in Abuja.

The just concluded 2024 UBEC National Sports Competition was in collaboration with the State Universal Basic Education Boards (SUBEBs) and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Education Board.

Prior to the Oyebamiji’s philanthropic gesture, Muminat who had earlier this year won a gold medal for Osun state at the Southwest Table Tennis Competition which qualifies her for the national competition in Abuja, recently pleaded for support from the state government and well-meaning Nigerians in order to ensure smooth running of her education and sport career.

With her faith in God, mercy smiled to her on Friday when Oyebamiji announced his readiness to foot all her academic tuition fees and sport career.

Speaking at the Awards Presentation Ceremony heralding the 2024 Ikire Day, Oyebamiji, to the delight of participants at the event, declared that Muminat’s academic pursuit and career development in sport would be sponsored till she finishes university education.

Oyebamiji who expressed delight in Muminat’s sterling qualities and outstanding performance in both academic and sport career, said her welfare and well-being would be championed without further delay.

He commended the parents and teachers of the gold medalist for the spirit of hardwork, faithfulness, confidence, discipline and courage instill in her to attain greatness.

The NIWA Boss, however, admonished Muminat to remain steadfast, focused and undaunted in the pursuit of academic attainments and career progressions saying “Insha-Allah, I shall do everything humanly possible to support your dream to fruition”

He acknowledged the pride Muminat’s stellar performance had brought to Ikire community in particular and Osun State in general, assuring that ‘no efforts would be spared to continuously encouraging excellence and rewarding hardwork.

He urged other young minds to inculcate the spirit of hardwork, dedication and determination to success.
