Gunmen on Sunday night attacked the convoy of Ginger Obinna Onwusibe, lawmaker representing Isiala Ngwa North and South Federal Constituency.
The attack occurred around 9 PM, leaving one police officer dead and another injured.
The assailants, disguised in black outfits and police-style armour, intercepted the convoy with a Toyota Corolla.
At the time, the Labour Party lawmaker was not in the vehicle; only two police escorts and a driver were present.
The attackers fired at the vehicle, killing one officer on the spot before fleeing the scene.
Security personnel from the Ubakala police station responded with gunfire, and investigations are underway.
Authorities suspect the gunmen may be linked to kidnapping activities, though further details are pending.
