News Update

In preparation for the forthcoming local government election in Osun State, a multimedia journalist and ewí rendition expert, Mukhtar Ajelogbon De-Moon has advised stakeholders in the state on the need to have a credible election in the state.

Recall that Osun State Independent Electoral Commission (OSSIEC) had earlier fixed February 22nd, 2025 to conduct election across the 30 local governments including Area office in the State.

However, the Osogbo born publisher of the OsunReporters News and State Chairman of Osun Online Publishers (OOPA) uses his unique style of Yoruba language rendition to admonish, caution, appeal and advise various stakeholders in the pre, during and post election participation.

He sends massages to electorates and Political parties on violence-free campaigns. He equally charged the contestants to confirm the genuinity of their candidacy from within before canvassing for votes especially at this critical time of local government with on autonomy.

Ajelogbon called on the youths to play their roles diligently and never allowed themselves to be used as bad and destructive elements before, during and after the election as this would go a long way to promote unity and peace within the state.

The three-minutes-tuenty-seconds video is full of advice and warning to the appropriate quarters among which he charged the State electoral umpire, Osun State Independent Electoral Commission (OSSIEC) to discharge its duty without fair or favour, strike balance and produce credible election come February, 2025.

The electorates were further sensitized not to engage in vote selling with popular slang “DIBO KO’SEBE or DIBO KO’RALE” meaning ‘sell your vote and Cook or sell your vote and buy land’.

He noted that such act would lead to the emergence of bad leaders which would bring misfortune in the near future.

Ajelogbon then called on Nigeria Police Force, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) to be proactive and remain steadfast in the bid to curb vote buying to the bearest minimum if not totally erased.

He implores the journalists to use their professionalism in the discharge of their duties because they serve as ears, eyes and mouth of the masses, adding that their professional contributions to success of the election remains important as ever.

Ajelogbon who has experience in broadcast, print and digital media, called on Osun State Government under the watch of Governor Ademola Adeleke to give level playing ground to every party and contestants in order to have free, fair and credible election in the state, concluded that there will be winners and losers in every contest, hence the need to brace peace is sacrosanct.
