News Update
THE Commander of the Ondo State Security Network Agency, codenamed Amotekun Corps, Akogun Adetunji Adeleye, has disclosed that the corps has launched a 24-hour patrol to secure lives and property in the state during the ember months.
The Commander revealed this to The Hope Metro while parading 12 suspected criminals at the corps’ headquarters in Akure, the Ondo State capital.
According to him, “During this ember period, we have commenced our regular patrols, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
“With the heavy influx of visitors during the Yuletide season, we aim to guarantee the safety of lives and property along the roads.
“We are parading 12 suspected criminals; ten of them are related to breaches of law and order, but with no pending enforcement infractions.
“There have been no crises concerning land and chieftaincy issues in the state. Labor union matters are also peaceful.
“Regarding anti-grazing and farmer-herder clashes, we’ve recorded no incidents this week. Human trafficking cases are nil. Kidnapping cases involve two suspects: one linked directly to kidnapping and the other to a suspected ritual murder.
“We have no issues with militancy, and political activities are progressing smoothly without significant infractions. Religious organizations are also conducting their activities without any disturbances. Cultism has not been an issue.
“Additionally, we have apprehended a suspected kidnapper in the Akoko area, near the location of a recent kidnapping incident.
“For conspiracy, burglary, and theft of household items and motorcycles, we have four suspects: Eze, Jimoh, Sunday, Titilayo, and Beatrice, who acted as receivers, reselling stolen goods.
“We also arrested Sunday Agbagi for stealing cables, and one Olamilekan for stealing a generator. Others include Ismaila, Bashiru, Habib, and Tosin Arogundade, all of whom were involved in generator theft in the Akure metropolis.
“The positive news is that we recovered over 90% of the stolen items within the week. Our men pursued the suspects, who led us to the individuals they sold the stolen items to.
“We have the suspects on parade here along with the stolen bikes, generators, household items, and clothing taken from Ondo town. This is an overview of the current security situation in the state.
“By our assessment, the state is relatively peaceful, and we are working in collaboration with all security agencies to maintain this peace.
“One suspect, Akinnusoye Dayo, a suspected ritualist, was arrested following reports from his friend’s family, who claimed he had attempted to use his friend for a ritual.
“He invited his friend over, gave him a concoction, and after consuming it, the friend became partially deranged and was under his control.
“We brought in both the suspect and the victim. The suspect claimed that the person who prepared the concoction is in Osun State, and we have notified our counterparts in Osun to look out for this individual.
“We informed him that the only way to help his friend is to reverse the effects of the concoction, allowing him to regain full consciousness.
“As of this afternoon, the suspect claimed he has begun the reversal process, and he believes the victim will regain his consciousness within the next week.”
