No fewer than 10,517 persons have been deployed for the local government and ward elections scheduled to hold in Cross River State on Saturday, November 2, 2024.

This was confirmed by the Chairman of the Cross River State Independent Electoral Commission (CROSIEC), Dr. Ekong Edet Boco, at their office in Calabar.

He stated that 9,843 ad hoc staff have been trained, with three of these staff members assigned to each of the 3,281 INEC-recognized polling units across the 18 LGAs of the state.

In addition, 460 supervisors, 18 returning officers, and 196 collation officers were trained and will be involved in the elections.

Boco debunked rumours that the election results had already been predetermined.

“These are the blank result sheets and other documents to be used during the exercise. It is not true that the results of the elections have been written already before the elections,” he stressed.

He disclosed that all ad hoc workers have subscribed to oaths of allegiance and secrecy.

“We hope that all officials assigned to the elections will conduct themselves well. We will not tolerate any misdemeanors from officials.”

In the presence of IPAC officials, security personnel, and journalists, he distributed sensitive electoral materials for the council elections.
