Why Matawalle is Ahead of His Traducers, By Florence Chinomso

In the ever-evolving political landscape of Nigeria, one figure who has managed to stay above the fray is Hon. Bello Matawalle, former Governor of Zamfara State and now serving as a minister. As a seasoned journalist, I have taken the time to closely observe his career and personality. What stands out about Matawalle is his ability to rise above political blackmail and cheap propaganda, which often target public officials. Despite relentless efforts by his detractors to undermine his credibility, Matawalle remains unfazed, focused on his key responsibility—assisting President Bola Tinubu in ensuring Nigeria’s territorial defence and national security.

When approached by journalists seeking his response to slanderous publications, Matawalle has consistently shown that he will not dignify such distractions. His refusal to engage in media banter or political mudslinging is not a sign of weakness but rather a demonstration of his deep commitment to his duties. In his words, engaging with such propaganda only serves the interests of those trying to divert attention from more pressing national issues. His primary focus, he insists, is securing Nigeria and supporting the President, a monumental responsibility that leaves no room for the pettiness of political theatrics.

This attitude has earned Matawalle a unique reputation in media circles. Many journalists, after observing his resilience, have opted to dig deeper into his track record rather than sensationalize unverified claims. More often than not, their thorough investigations reveal a leader whose actions speak louder than words, as his accomplishments in governance and security initiatives stand in stark contrast to the empty rhetoric of his critics.

Most despicable news originates from hired blackmailers such as Jackson Udeh, Queen Amina and their cohorts who seem more interested in inciting chaos and stirring insecurity on the order of their paymasters rather than contributing to constructive national discourse.

While leaders and public officials need to be held accountable for their actions, it is equally critical that such scrutiny is based on facts, not malicious rumours or biased sentiments.

Matawalle’s track record speaks for itself and the baseless accusations levied against him serve only to distract him from the real work that needs to be done in moving Nigeria forward.

In the face of such unfounded criticism, Matawalle has consistently chosen to let his achievements do the talking. Rather than engage in a tit-for-tat with his detractors, he continues to focus on his primary role—protecting Nigeria’s territorial integrity and ensuring national security. This approach not only distinguishes him from many of his peers but also highlights his understanding of the bigger picture, which is the well-being and security of Nigeria.

Ultimately, Matawalle’s refusal to be drawn into unnecessary media battles is a testament to his leadership and maturity. His focus remains on the larger goal of national service, a stance that keeps him ahead of his detractors who seem more interested in pursuing personal vendettas than contributing positively to Nigeria’s future.

It is obvious that those sponsoring media attacks are those breeding terrorism and banditry whom Matawalle has hit badly in his quest to defend Mr President and the oath of office he swore to. In light of his commitment to diligent service delivery to humanity, he has left his comfort zone to join our unrelenting soldiers in most of the North-Western states being ravaged by banditry and terrorism thereby portraying leadership by example.

Another known fact that keeps his detractors ever restless is the fact that he is a reliable ally and loyal aide to the President and this keeps them on their feet to ensure they put a dent in his reputation so as to weaken President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s workforce in guise.
