Ooni at 50: CAN commends exemplary traditional leadership

The President of the Christian Association of Nigeria, Archbishop Daniel Okoh, has joined other dignitaries and personalities to congratulate the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi Ojaja II, on his 50th birthday.

In a statement on Saturday, the CAN President said the monarch’s rule has been characterised by a profound commitment to peace, cultural preservation, and the upliftment of the people, adding that the occasion also marked not only the passage of time but his impact as a first-class traditional ruler.

Okoh further described the Ooni as a beacon of hope and unity for the nation, adding that his efforts to foster interfaith harmony and intercultural cooperation resonated deeply with CAN’s mission.

He prayed that God would bless the monarch with wisdom, strength, and the grace to lead his people with integrity and purpose, while also praying for more years of good health and fulfillment for the Ooni

Part of the statement reads, “On behalf of the Christian Association of Nigeria, I extend my heartfelt congratulations to you on this momentous occasion of your 50th birthday. As Your Imperial Majesty, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, (Ojaja II), reflects on the past five decades, it is evident that your leadership has been characterised by a profound commitment to peace, cultural preservation, and the upliftment of our people.

“In a world often divided by differences, your role as a traditional leader highlights the significance of faith, love, and understanding. Your efforts to foster interfaith harmony and intercultural cooperation resonate deeply with our mission at CAN, where we believe that diversity should serve as both an asset and a unifying force for progress.

“As you celebrate this golden jubilee, may you continue to be blessed with wisdom, strength, and the grace to lead your people with integrity and purpose. We pray that God grants you many more years of good health and fulfillment in your noble endeavours.

Once again, congratulations on this significant milestone. We look forward to your continued leadership and the positive impact you will undoubtedly make in the years to come.”
