News Update
THE Ondo State Government has admonished students in the state to disregard false information circulating about a planned fee increment across tertiary institutions.
The Commissioner for Information, Otunba Wale Akinlosotu, stressed that Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa will never do anything that would put hardship on students and their parents.
Recently, a WhatsApp message has been circulating on social media, alleging that Governor Aiyedatiwa plans to increase school fees immediately after winning the November 16 gubernatorial election.
The Viral Message
While stating that education is part of the REDEEM agenda of the current administration, he said that increasing school fees has never been part of Aiyedatiwa’s plan.
He described the viral information as fake and a work of the opposition, given the governor’s assured victory in the November 16 gubernatorial election in the Sunshine State.
He said, “Mr. Governor has not planned any increase in tuition fees or any adjustment of fees for any tertiary education at all. It’s just propaganda from the opposition.
“And that will not happen. We cannot increase fees at this time when we are going through a lot in Nigeria. It would be very insensitive for Mr. Governor to do that.
“So, the opposition is just looking for something to scare people.”
He appealed to the students not to believe the false information, as Governor Aiyedatiwa will never do anything that would negatively affect them or their studies.
