The Kano State Chairman of the New Nigeria Peoples Party Hashimu Dungurawa, on Thursday, received 1,331 people who decamped from the All Progressives Congress (APC) supporters in the Dawakin Tofa Local Government Area of the state.
Few days ago, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf had received 30 key opposition leaders from other political parties into NNPP.
The decampees who were mainly from 11 Wards in Dawakin-Tofa Local Government Area, vowed to work for the success of NNPP in the forthcoming Local Government elections and other future elections.
Prominent among the former APC leaders who embraced NNPP include former Vice Chairman, Dawakin-Tofa Local Government Area, Malam Isyaku Dahiru Kwa; former state House of Assembly aspirant, Audu Magaji Tumfafi; Bashir Musa Sani, and APC Youth Leader for Takai Organisation among others.
Receiving the decampees during a ground reception held at Dawakin-Tofa, Dungurawa applauded their decision to join the ruling party and promised to carry them along.
Isyaku Dahiru kwa who spoke on behalf of the decampees, alleged that they were neglected and sidelined by the APC leadership.
Kwa also accused former Governor Ganduje of, “doing little to develop Dawakin Tofa Local Government Area during his eight years as Governor.”
Dungurawa declared that “NNPP under the supreme leadership of Senator Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso is committed to entrench socio-economic and infrastructural development in Kano.”
He assured that “the newest members of NNPP will be given equal opportunity within the party caucus,” while dispelling rumours of mass defection of NNPP members to APC”.
He maintained that “NNPP is not losing grip and control of its party structure across the political Wards. Those aligning with APC are 419ners struggling to collect their national cake from their recruiters.
“We learnt that one APC man has been receiving members of NNPP into APC. Let me remind the Abuja man that we have checked the roll call of our members and we have not noticed any reduction in the volume of our numerical strength.
“Perhaps, I need to advise the Abuja APC man to shine his eyes and beware of 419 people coming to collect the public fund at his disposal in the name of decampees.
“In any ways, we would not blame anyone claiming to have decamped from NNPP to APC simply to collect his own share from the disposable income.”
