As part of the promises to reform the power sector and ease the burden of the people of the state in accessing electricity, Ondo State Governor, Mr Lucky Aiyedatiwa has officially launched a mass metering programme across the state.
Speaking at the event, held at the Cocoa Conference hall, Governor’s Office, Akure, Governor Aiyedatiwa noted that the initiative would put an end to the issue of estimated billing.
He emphasized the significance of the initiative in ensuring a transparent, fair, and efficient electricity supply system, stressing that accurate metering was not only a necessity but a fundamental right of all consumers, as it would help eliminate the uncertainties and discrepancies which had long affected the billing process.
The Governor announced that Ondo State would soon venture into power generation, transmission, and distribution, calling on both generation and distribution companies to collaborate with the state in achieving its goals.
Earlier, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Energy, Engr. Johnson Alabi, commended Governor Aiyedatiwa for his vision in transforming the energy sector in the State.
Mr Alabi emphasized that the initiative would ensure consumer protection, applauding the governor as the driving force behind the program.
On his part the, Commissioner for energy and mineral Resources, Mr Rasaq Obe, stressed the importance of the initiative to the people and commended the governor for his dedication to improving the lives of the people.
