Council Poll: Osun Electoral Commission Inaugurates Verification Committee

Osun State Independent Electoral Commission (OSSIEC) has inaugurated Verification Committee ahead of the February, 2025 local government election.

In the interest of conducting verification of aspirants

This is coming after the political parties in the state have concluded their respective primary election for the forthcoming local government election.

The verification committee is saddled with the verification of documents and credentials submitted by the nominated candidates for the 2025 Local Government Election in Osun State.

In his remark, OSSIEC Chairman, Barr. Ashim Abioye, reaffirmed the commission’s readiness to conduct free, fair, credible and acceptable election in the state.

“This is a high-level committee populated by people of high integrity who have served and/or still serving their country in various capacities. They are seasoned professionals and technocrats; they are people of conscience and high repute. They are to look into the documents and the papers submitted by political parties and their candidates for the election.

“They are to look at age compliance, academic qualification compliance and tax compliance of the candidates. I want to believe that at the end of the day, the committee will submit their reports which shall be made public by the grace of God.

“With this, the confidence of the public in the integrity of the process being embarked upon by the Commission will be guaranteed. As we inaugurate this Committee today, we wish them and their team a huge success.”

While speaking on behalf of the committee, the Chairman of the verification committee, Alhaji Abdullateef Olayanju, thanks Governor Ademola Adeleke and OSSIEC Chairman for the trust and opportunity given him to lead alongside his Co-Chairman Mr Kazeem Adeniyi Olatokun.

He, however, promised to effectively perform his duty alongside other committee members.

“I must give thank to God Almighty for making today a reality. I must as well thank Governor Ademola Adeleke and OSSIEC Chairman, Barr Ashim Abioye for given us this opportunity to handle this task.

“We promise to discharge our duties without favoritism. We also seek the cooperation of the people of Osun especially those who will be dirrectily dealing with us during the activities of the committee.”
