Members of a socio-political group in Ondo state, The Concerned Ondo Indigene (COI) has accused the President of the Nigerian Senate and Chairman of National Assembly, HE. Sen. Godswill Akpabio, GCON, of playing a Favouritism Politics with the people of the Ondo State over the appointment of Oladeinde Abolarin as Ondo Commissioner, The immediate Past Commissioner who represented Kogi State in the Board of Public Complaints Commission without taking into consideration the Federal Character Principle of engagement into Federal Service.
The group said this in Abuja while reacting to the recent announcement of Chief Commissioner and Federal Commissioners to the board of Public Complaints Commission on the floor of the Senate yesterday, Tuesday 23rd July, 2024, by the Senate President where he pronounced the immediate past Kogi Commissioner of PCC, Oladeinde Abolarin as the new Ondo state Commissioner.
The group said they are ready to take over the National Assembly in a protest if the injustice melted on them is not addressed fast as the state has numerous qualified individuals to occupy the seat.

They said if Akpabio wants to play such politics, he should consider Abolarin for Akwa-Ibom state. We had protested against the last Commissioner, Adeyemi Oni, that he is not from Ondo state but the immediate past Speaker of the House of Representative imposed him on us and at the end, he failed to contribute meaningfully to the development of the commission in Ondo state, now he is being taken to Kogi state and replaced with another non-indigene, Kogi Man, this time, it will not stand.
The group has charged the 12 Ondo state caucus members, 3 Senators and 9 Honourable Members to reject this appointment immediately and present an Ondo person for immediate replacement. They said it will be shameful for them, if they allow Abolarin to be inaugurated against their kinsman but promised that they will not allow him to resume in Ondo state except he show proof of his family house location, ward, LGA, certificate of origin and evidence of his contribution to the development of Ondo state. This type of situation should not be allowed to stand in Public Complaints commission that Serves as Nigerian Ombudsman to defend the rights of citizens and ensure constitution of Nigeria are followed in the scheme of all appointments into Federal service.
In a swift reaction, the immediate past Ondo Central Senator, Dr. Ayo Akinyelure, FCA (Allover-1) has written a quick SMS to Sen. Jimoh Ibrahim, Sen Adegbonmire, Speaker of Ondo State House of Assembly and the Governor of Ondo state, HE, Hon Lucky Aiyedatiwa to immediately called the Senate President to order before it degenerate into uncontrollable protest for the interest of the State and the Nation.
His text; “Dist. Sen Jimoh Ibrahim, Alfa Alfa of our time. This is to call your attention to fact that the Hon Commissioner just appointed to represent Ondo State in Public Complaints Commission is the immediate past commissioner of Kogi State. We have more than enough candidates from Ondo State to be chosen as Commissioner in the commission, please take this up with Senate President and Speaker of the HR to address the issue in the interest of justice and fair play.

It is on record that Ondo state contributed the highest percentage of vote in the South West in the Last presidential Election of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR and therefore, Ondo State should not be short-Changed by leadership of National Assembly.
