Gov Adeleke Commends Odumuyiwas for Rendering Humanitarian Services

Osun State Governor Sen. Ademola Adeleke has lauded the contributions of Odumuyiwa’s family for the healthcare services rendered through St.Jude’s Hospital, Ikire for many years.

Governor Adeleke who was represented by the Special Adviser to the governor on Primary Healthcare, Dr Micheal Oyerinde, remarked during the opening ceremony of the Free Medical Outreach carried out to mark the 10th transitioning anniversary of the founder and Chief Medical Director, Dr. Pedro Odumuyiwa.

Dr Oyerinde who led other top government officials to the launching of the programme, described Dr Odumuyiwa as ‘a talent not only dedicated to contributing to medicine, but also one with an enduring spirit of compassion and service’.

He further expressed, “This outreach is a testament to Dr Odumuyiwa’s enduring legacy and a reflection of his lifelong commitment to ensuring accessible and quality health care for all”.

Dr Oyerinde on behalf of the Governor and the entire administration of Osun State, appreciated the organisers, volunteers, and healthcare professionals who have dedicated their resources, time and expertise to ensuring the success of the cause, urging them to ensure that the outreach thus serve as a beacon of hope and testament of togetherness.

Earlier in his address of welcome Pharm ‘Biodun Odumuyiwa said the weeklong free medical outreach is to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the transition of Dr Pedro Odumuyiwa in line with the legacy he left behind.

Also in his remarks, the Coordinator and Board Chairman of Ikire Mercy Clinic Foundation, Alhaji Olayinka Edu described Late Dr Pedro Odumuyiwa as a man of integrity who lived his life to serve humanity.

Alhaji Edu appreciated the children for upholding the virtues and principles of their father by bringing succour to the less privileged in Ikire town.

The eldest child of the deceased medical philanthropist, Pharmacist ‘Tayo Akintaro gave praise and thanks to Almighty God for sustaining the members of the family in the last 10 years saying the programme is the little way that the children can give back to the community.

Pharm Akintaro explained that the outreach included general medical treatment on Monday; while children in the Ikire were treated on Tuesday: Family planning was done for women on Wednesday; Screening of HIV/AIDS, Syphilis and Tuberculosis was done on Thursday.

She stated that ‘Eye screening is scheduled for today and free surgery for registered patients will come up on Saturday. The programme will be rounded up on Sunday with a Thanksgiving Service at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Ikire.

She however commended AMEN Foundation, Marie Stope, ECEWS, pharmaceutical companies and others who collaborated with the family for the one-week programme to be successful.

Present at the Occasion are the Special Adviser to the Governor on RUWESA Hon Olarenwaju Odelade, Rev. Father Micheal Ademola, representatives of Ikire Progressive Union, Comrade Micheal Omoloye among others.
