Minister Ayodele Olawande Calls For Expansion of Youth Parliament, Gives Reason

…To Improve Youth Engagement and Inclusion In Government

The Minister of State for Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, earlier today, received the Conference of State Youth Parliament Speakers of Nigeria in his office.

The Chairman of the Forum, Rt. Hon. Osawemenhio Uwagboe commended the Minister for his support towards youth empowerment, his accessibility, and concern for Nigerian youth at the grassroots.

The Chairman also stated that the forum is in full support of the “Youth 4 Youth” vision of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu because it believes it will harnessed the actualization of the Renewed Hope Agenda of the administration.

Speaking further, he, on behalf of the forum, requested for continued engagement with the Ministry. He also opined that the forum can only be functional if it has the backing of ministry.

The Minister, in his response, charged the Forum to look into expanding the Nigerian Youth Parliament to all states of the federation in order to enhance youth inclusion in governance and legislation.

He also charged the visiting young parliamentarians to consider spreading their upcoming seminars and conferences to youth at the grassroots and focus less on bringing people to the FCT; noting that such seminars won’t solve the problem it is meant to solve if it’s not devolved to the grassroots.

The Minister, thereafter, assured of his profound and continued support, pledging that all their requests will be adequately attended to as they aligned with the vision of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for Nigerian youth.
