Osun: Lawmaker Adewumi Adeyemi Pays N1.6m NECO exam fees for students in constituency

Hon. Adewumi Adeyemi, popularly known as Irekandu, has released the sum of over N1.6 million to selected principals of public schools for the purchase of National Examination Council, NECO forms in Obokun State Constituency.

The fund which would cover for more than 40 students under NECO SCHOLARSHIP SCHEME SUPPORT, an initiative of the IREKANDU BACK TO SCHOOL PROJECT, birthed some years ago, and have helped a lot of young people, especially girls, in advancing and exploiting educational opportunities.
 

While addressing the gathering at the event, the lawmaker disclosed that the fund allocated for the payment of NECO forms has been disbursed to school principals to ensure transparency and effective oversight.

The launch of the event, which took place on Friday, April 26, 2024, at the NULGE hall situated within the Obokun LG secretariat, which was well attended by dignitaries such as the Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Adewale Egbedun, school principals, and parents of beneficiaries, among others.

 
Adeyemi, while speaking at the event, stated that he kicked off the Irekandu Back to School Project to reduce out-of-school children in his consistency and assist vulnerable families whose kids love education to access a credible alternate route.

 
The architect who reflected on the significance of education emphasized that poverty can only be efficiently combated through education.

Irekandu articulated his unwavering commitment to the cause of reducing out-of-school children and helping poor students further their studies, citing the ‘Irekandu Back to School Project’ as a tangible manifestation of his dedication.
