Peter Obi, the candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 presidential election on Wednesday agreed that he did not build any new school when he was the governor of Anambra State as asserted by social media personality and influencer, Reno Omokri.
Omokri had in the past few days challenged supporters of Obi, popularly known as Obidients on social media to identify one school that was built by the Labour Party presidential candidate when he was governor of Anambra.
Omokri also offered to give 10,000 dollars as a reward to anyone who could show a school built by Obi when he was governor.
The social media influencer was trying to prove that despite all the hype by his supporters, Peter Obi was a non performer as governor.
Supporters of Peter Obi has been unable to mention one school built by the former Anambra governor.
However, speaking at a press conference in Abuja on Wednesday, Obi agreed with Omokri that he did not build any school as governor.
The Labour Party presidential candidate said he devoted his time to building up the broken educational system in the state. As a result, he said Anambra which was ranked 26th in the nation when he took over the government was at the top by the time he left.
He said: “I improved the quality, physical and mental well-being of the people, schools, had the basic things they needed and the people shone like stars and that was my manifesto.
“Building new schools when the old ones are moribund is just like building coastal lines when internal roads are impassable.”
