Osun: Police parade criminal suspects for ritual, other illegal offences

The Osun State Police Command has arrested 18 suspects for various offences in the state.

This was made known during a suspect’s parade to showcase successes recorded by the Command headquarters in Osogbo on Friday.

The Command’s Public Relations Officer, Yemisi Opalola while addressing journalists revealed that the suspects were arrested for murders, stealing, fraudulent acts, conspiracy and unlawful possession of firearms ammunition.

Others, Opalola said, were arrested for armed robbery.

The suspects arrested for murder include, “Onifade Oyebanji, 30 years Oyebode Olalekan, 40 years, Ifayemi Ojeleke, 33 years, Jamiu Lasisi, 40 years and Aminat Abiola, aged 27 years.”

Akeem Arole Adeniyi, aged 24 years was arrested for stealing and fraudulent act.

“Adekunle Faronbu, 42 years and Sunday Afolabi, 54 years for conspiracy and unlawful possession of firearms.

“Liadi Afeez, 23 years, Hammed Rasheed, 24 years, Musibau Nurudeen, 23 years, Adejoju Abdullahi, 18, and AbdulRaham, deceased were arrested for conspiracy and armed robbery.

“Odedoju Lukman, 65 years old, arrested for the suspected murder of his 100-year-old mother.”

Others arrested are, “Adekunle Bright, 37 years, Adekunle Akingbade, 34 years, Hammed Musa, 18 years and Ganiyu Sodiq, 28 years, arrested for stealing.”

Opalola said exhibits recovered from the suspects included 120 litres of diesel, one sharp knife, a locally made barrel gun, four expended cartridges, one black/brown school bag, a saw blade, cable wires, a locally fabricated pistol with one cartridge, a single bare gun with 3 cartridges.

Others are, “Some SIM cards, POS machines, different phone packs and from the murder suspects, substances suspected to be burnt human remains, two cutlasses, one big black earthen pot, some black soap, one ash-coloured Toyota Camry Pencil car with registration number, LSD 544 CE.”

She said all the suspects would be charged to court at the conclusion of investigations and called on members of the public to give prompt and credible information/reports to the Police always.

“Report every strange movement and strange people around you. People should not be going around with unregistered vehicles or covered number plates.”
