A Kano State High Court has issued an exparte order restraining Abdullahi Ganduje, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), from acting as a member of the party.

The court also directed Ganduje to desist from presiding over the affairs of the National Working Committee (NWC) of the APC.

This order follows an exparte motion filed by Ibrahim Sa’ad on behalf of two executive members of the APC Ganduje ward, Laminu Sani (assistant secretary) and Haladu Gwanjo (legal adviser).

These members, who were part of the nine ward executives that suspended Ganduje two days prior, sought the court’s intervention.

Justice Usman Malam Na’abba, who presided over the case, granted the application on Tuesday, directing Ganduje and all other respondents in the matter to maintain the status quo ante belum as of April 15, 2024.

This means that Ganduje is restrained from carrying out any functions related to his position within the APC pending the hearing and determination of the substantive suit on April 30, 2024.

The court also ruled in favor of stopping the APC Kano State Working Committee from interfering with the decision made by the executives of Ganduje ward, which was endorsed by a two-thirds majority of the executives, as provided by the party’s constitution.
