1. With the successes recorded by President Bola Tinubu administration’s intervention in the foreign exchange market and resumption of full operations by the refineries, a stronger Naira should be achieved by the first quarter of 2025. Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale made the projection in a briefing to State House Correspondents in Abuja on Thursday.
2. The Federal Government will recoup its investment on the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway project through 15 years of tolling, Works Minister, Dave Umahi said on Thursday. He also said the N4 billion per kilometer road will be ready in eight years, adding that motorists will pay N3,000 per toll gate.
3. Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State has vowed that more buildings will be demolished to allow for proper cleanup of the Dosunmu market. Sanwo-Olu disclosed this on Thursday when he visited the market which was gutted by fire on Tuesday.
4. The abducted student of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Anambra State, Miss Francisca Chioma, has regained her freedom five days after her disappearance. The Chief Security Officer of the institution, Ken Chukwurah, confirmed her release on Thursday.
5. Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State says local government chairmen disrespecting him will fall into the pit they have dug. He said this while inaugurating the Comprehensive Primary Healthcare Centre in Ndoni, Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area (ONELGA) of the state, on Thursday.
6. Gunmen on Thursday attacked a police checkpoint in Abakaliki and killed a policeman. Police spokesman in Ebonyi, DSP Joshua Ukandu, confirmed the attack and said the gunmen also set the police van on the spot ablaze.
7. The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) bombed three terrorists’ camps in Zamfara on Wednesday, eliminating several of them and their structures. The operation was conducted by the Air Component of Operation Hadarin Daji, NAF Spokesman, AVM Edward Gabkwet, said in a statement on Thursday in Abuja.
8. An All Progressives Congress, APC, presidential aspirant in the 2023 election, Dr Ogbonnaya Onu died in Abuja on Thursday. The former Abia State governor died after battling an undisclosed ailment.
9. Troops of the Nigerian Army conducting a cordon-and-search operation over the March 14 killing of 17 military personnel at Okuama in Ughelli South Local Government Area, Delta State, on Thursday reportedly invaded another community, Olota, and allegedly whisked away no fewer than 10 persons.
10. The Actors Guild of Nigeria has barred actors under its franchise from shooting movies in riverine areas and participating in boat rides, following the tragic boat accident that claimed the life of Nollywood actor, Junior Pope, and four crew members.
