The Federal Government has extended the public holiday for the celebration of Eid-el-Fitr to mark the end of Ramadan fasting to Thursday.
FG had earlier declared Tuesday and Wednesday as holidays for the celebration.
However, the Ministry of Interior in statement signed by its Permanent Secretary Aisha Gogo Ndayako on Tuesday morning announced the extension of the public holiday by one day.
The extension obviously became necessary following failure to sight the moon that would have resulted into the end of the fast on Monday evening.
Authorities of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Muslim authorities in Nigeria had consequently announced that fasting will continue on Tuesday with the Eid-el-Fitr celebration scheduled for Wednesday.
