Asefon Visits Nasarawa University Palliatives Stampede Victims, Donates Gifts To Hospitalised Students

On Sunday, the Special Assistant to the President on Student Affairs, Hon comr Asefon Sunday, visited Nasarawa State University Keffi to assess and provide support following a tragic incident that occurred during the distribution of palliatives by the Nasarawa State Government.

Upon arrival, Asefon Sunday was warmly received by various dignitaries including the PA to the Government of Nasarawa State on student matters, the ASUU Chairman of NSUK, the NANS Zone C Coordinator, the NSUK Student Union President, his Exco members, and other national stakeholders of NANS in NSUK. The purpose of the visit was to check on the victims of the unfortunate stampede that resulted in the loss of two female students’ lives.

The heartbreaking news of the incident reached Hon comr Asefon Sunday while on duty in Bauchi state on Friday, which led to the immediate initiation of support measures. After returning to Abuja on Saturday, Hon comr Asefon Sunday visited the victims at the Federal Medical Center Keffi on Sunday. Currently, four victims with varying degrees of injuries remain under medical care. Initially, 20 individuals were hospitalized, but due to the diligent efforts of the medical team at FCM Keffi, fully funded by the Nasarawa State Government, approximately 16 have been discharged.

As an act of compassion, He presented token cash and beverages to those still receiving treatment at the hospital.

Furthermore, Hon, comr Asefon Sunday conveyed the heartfelt sympathy of His Excellency President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR to the surviving victims and announced plans to extend condolences to the university and the immediate families of the deceased today, Monday.

He expressed prayers for the quick recovery of the victims and eternal rest for the deceased.”
