Ondo: Amotekun foils attacks on 3 banks, supermarket, nabs 37

The Ondo State Security Network Agency codenamed Amotekun Corps, has foiled major armed robbery plot on three commercial banks and attempted kidnapping of Supermarket owners in the state.

Amotekun therefore arrested one of the seven bank robbery syndicates, Fatai Bami in Ore, while it is on the trail of the remaining six suspects.

The Commander of the State Amotekun Corps, Chief Adetunji Adeleye, disclosed this to newsmen in Akure on thursday, while parading thirty seven suspected criminals apprehended across the state in the last few days.

Chief Adeleye explained that the gang of six robbers came from Sapele in Delta State with Mr Bami as an accomplice, with the aim of attacking three banks in Ondo State, adding that security agencies would still track down the six suspects who were at large.

He said the gang also plotting to kidnap the managing director of a Big supermarket in the state but it was also foiled.

While assuring the people of the state that their security would be given top priority, the Amotekun Commander noted that the corps is focusing on intelligence gathering on crimes prevention across the state.

Adeleye revealed that one of the arrested suspect is a member of a seven gang men from Delta State who specialize in kidnapping and bank robbery.

He said that from intel, they were able to gathered that the gang came to Ondo State and planned to robbed three banks and also kidnapped a Managing Director of a supermarket.

He said “a gang came all the way from Delta state for the purpose of kidnapping, breaking and robbery of banks in Irele Local Government, we were able to apprehend the mastermind who accommodated the robbers, we were equally able to get to the root of the target that they intend to kidnap.

“The Intel available to us showed that they intend to rob three banks and kidnap the MD of a supermarket. All our investigation also showed that they liaise with one of the staff of the supermarket who declined to join the group.

Adeleye however stated that in a bid to ensured the safety of innocent citizens, six members of the gang are at large but their convener who accommodated them was arrested and he confessed.

He assured the public that plans are put in place and they are liaising with other security agencies to ensure that the runaway suspects are apprehended and brought to justice.

Adeleye further explained that the attention of the corps has been shifted to working on credible intelligence to nipped the occurrence of criminal activities before it actually happened.

Suspects arrested

He then urged the good citizens to continue supporting them by providing timely information that will enable them apprehend criminals before they carry out their evil plans.

“We want to appeal to members of the public to continue to support us and give us timely and actionable information and we assured them that the corps is resilient in ensuring the safety of life and property in Ondo State in conjunction with all other security in the States” he said.
