Rancour Trails Osun Accord As Party Suspends State Chairman, Victor Akande Indefinitely

VOICE AIR MEDIA, VAM News Update

All is not well with the Osun Accord since after the last governorship election, where Dr. Akin Ogunbiyi was the party Flagbearer as the Accord Party in Osun State, suspended its chairman, Victor Akande for alleged anti-party activities.

The suspension of Akande was contained in a resolution by six executive committee members of the party in the state during an emergency session in Ile-Ife during the week.

The suspension was also ratified by 13 local government chairmen who were in attendance at the meeting.

According to a communique signed by all in attendance, the party members accused Akande of partaking in party activities without carrying other members of the state executive and acting dictatorially.

They also revealed that the action was taken because the embattled Accord chairman failed to respond to the allegations levelled against him.

The statement added, “Victor started some intrusive, obnoxious and misleading behaviours that have split the structure of the party.

“He forged the signature of the state secretary in the letter he wrote to the national body on behalf of Osun Accord without the knowledge and consent of the state working committee and when an explanation was demanded, he failed to say a word.

“Akande cannot explain where he put the palliative from the state government that was meant for the Osun Accord party.

“He suspended 6 out of 10 members of the state working committees and the majority of Ife/Ijesa Chairmen because they queried some of his mischievous character.

“Victor Akande installed his woman friend Oluwakemi Awogbade who hailed from Ile-Ife, as the vice chairman of the party without taking part in the State’s Congress.”

Other anti-party allegations levelled against him include; sponsorship of another group in the locality to form the parallel exco truncating the chances of an Accord party candidate, recruiting thugs to beat up party candidates in Ife South, using his position as party chairman to trade some Accord party members for accreditation of another political party in the state.

The resolution however stated that Akande’s suspension would last until he clears the air on all the allegations leveled against him convincingly.
