Billionaire Folorunso Alakija has made a veiled post on social media amid rumour of crisis in her marriage to Modupe Alakija.
Some news media platforms reported over the weekend that the couple who has been married for 30 years and has four children is now separated.
It was also claimed that despite their public appearance, the couple’s relationship has been strained for several years, and they have maintained a united front primarily due to their public status.
Mr. Alakija, according to the reports, has moved out of his matrimonial home in the Ikoyi area of Lagos. He is however said to be residing nearby.
The reports also claimed Mrs. Alakija and her family have been keeping her alleged health challenges away from the public and that her health was the reason why the alleged wedding of one of her sons last year was done privately.
However, in what appears like her reaction to the reports, Alakija wrote on Monday on social media, “Your heart will not be broken by evil-doers. Negativity will not break your heart. The enemies will not break your heart. Nothing shall threaten your peace. You will have peace in the morning, afternoon, and evening. Your peace will be all around and intact.”
Alakija, who is one of the richest women in Africa, has business interests in different fields such as oil and gas and fashion.
She is the founder of Rose of Sharon Glorious Ministry International.
In December 2021, Ikoyi Club suspended her husband for allegedly getting physical with another member of the club on the allegation of disrespect.
A circular signed by the club’s secretary at the time Bamidele Ibironke said Alakija would remain suspended till November 30, 2022.
