Text of Speech by Hon. Comr. Sunday Asefon, The Senior Special Assistant to the President of Nigeria on Students Engagement at the official Unveiling of Girls’ Education, Engagement, Empowerment, andin Entrepreneurship Program.
Distinguished guests, gentlemen of the Press and most importantly, the incredible young women gathered here today.
On behalf of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, I am honored to be here today to unveil a program that holds to change lives, shape futures, and empower the next generation of our leaders: The Girls’ Education, Engagement, Empowerment, and Entrepreneurship (GEEEE) Program.
Our studies has shown that societies with a higher percentage of educated women experience increased economic growth, Improved health outcomes for families and Greater social stability.
Educating the girl child is not just about fairness, it’s about progress as educated girls become empowered women who can break cycles of poverty, improve their communities, and become agents of positive change.
These programs are designed to do more than just provide an education. It will aide the girl child to develop the skills and knowledge to believe in themselves and maximise thier potentials for National Productivity.
I am certain that this program will empower and equip the girl Child with the tools to be active participants in their various communities and future workplaces.
GEEEEP will help your passion as a girl child, nurture your talents, and provide the resources you need to become successful entrepreneurs and leaders.
GEEEP will foster a culture of innovation and self-reliance and mentorship programs connecting young women with successful female role models.
It will further introduce them to the exciting world of entrepreneurship as they will learn to Identify challenges and develop innovative solutions to make a positive impact as well as turn their creative ideas into viable businesses and become financially independent.
To the Nigerian girl child, I say to you today, The Power is in your Hands. This program is yours. Take advantage of every opportunity it offers. Participate actively, ask questions, and don’t be afraid to dream big. Remember, there’s nothing you can’t achieve with hard work, dedication, and the support of this incredible community.
You, the young women standing here today, you are the future. You have the power to change the world. We, the government, educators, and your families are here to support you every step of the way.
We want to hear your voices, your dreams, and your aspirations. We want to create a network of empowered young women who can support and inspire each other.
Together, let’s unlock your potential with education, engagement and empowerment, create a brighter future for yourselves, your communities, and our nation and also build a brighter future for all.
