Issakaba: Imasuen Set For Movie Remake

A Nollywood producer/ director Lancelot Imasuen, known for churning out blockbuster movies including “ Invasion 1897’, “Adesuwa’ , “The Last Burial”,’ATM’, ‘Garage’, ‘Bent Arrow’ among others, is set to make a return to the movie industry with the remake of one of his action thrillers “Issakaba”, which was first produced in 2001, featuring veteran actor Sam Dede.

Anticipation for “Issakaba” reached fever pitch as Lancelot unveiled a star-studded cast of the reboot.

Industry sources have indicated that the reboot will definitely be one of the best movies to come out of Nollywood this year.

Lancelot said the reboot became necessary due to popular demand by fans on all social media platforms, and stressed that “when the reboot is finally released, it will be a return to the heydays of Nollywood and a bridge between Nollywood then and Now.

Sam Dede, who played the lead character as Ebube in the first production and Chiwetalu Agu, are making their comeback.

They are joined by the likes of Chidi Mokeme, BBNaija’s Phyna, Regina Daniel, Nosa Rex, Iyabo Ojo ,Sanni Danger Alex Osifo, popular content creator , Mark Angel, to add a fresh breath to the story line.

Others are Francis Onwochei, Charles Okafor, Ben Olaye among other Nollywood greats.

Initially produced by the late Nigerian filmmaker, Chukwuka Emelionwu, and Moses of Mosco production, the five-part movie was a household favourite in the early 20s.

Inspired by real-life events, “Issakaba”, was an action-packed thriller that chronicled the activities of a community vigilante group called Bakassi Boys fighting against crimes like armed robbery and murder.

It also depicted the activities of armed gangs terrorising shoemakers in Aba, and the resolve by the shoemakers to fight back, using African power as against conventional means of policing,which produced the needed results.

Apart from Sam Dede and Chiwetalu Agu, other actors that starred in the original movie were Pete Eneh, Amaechi Muonagor, Susan Obi, Mike Ogundu, and John Okafor.

Others include, Andy Chukwu, Zulu Adigwe, Diewait Ikpechukwu, Remmy Ohajianya, Emeka Nwafor, Tom Njemanze, Uche Odoputa and Emeka Ani.

The Issakaba returns is being put together by Lancelot Imasuen media network Limited, LIAM studios WithinDlens Limited and Laho music worldwide studios Limited.
