NSCDC Deploys 1,800 Personnel for Security during Calabar Carnival— Report

In preparation for the yuletide season and the annual Calabar Carnival, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) has announced the deployment of over 1,800 personnel across the state. Charles Brown, the state commandant, disclosed this information in Calabar on Wednesday.

The deployment includes personnel from the intelligent and tactical units of the security agency. The primary objective is to ensure the safety and security of lives and property before, during, and after the festive period.

Brown emphasized that special attention would be given to public spaces such as markets, worship centers, gardens, tourist locations, and other recreational facilities. The strategic deployment aims to manage the influx of visitors within and outside the state and country during the Christmas season and the carnival.

“In view of the festive season, which usually comes with the influx of visitors, the NSCDC will ensure lives and properties are safe and secured,” assured Brown. He encouraged everyone to go about their businesses without fear of molestation, emphasizing that the command is diligently working around the clock to ensure adequate security measures are in place.
