Iya Osun, Funke Omodara passes on

Iya Osun of Osogbo land, Chief Mrs Osunwede Funke Omodara has died. She died at age of 75.

The Baba Oosa of Osogboland, Prince Osunyemi Ifarinu Ifabode announced the death of Omodara in a statement obtained by InsightMedia on Thursday.

He wrote, “It is with deep sadness and a heavy heart that we announce the passing of a revered leader, Iya Osun of Osogboland, Osunwede Funke Omodara. She peacefully departed from this world on the 6th of December 2023, at the age of 75, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing her.

“Osunwede Funke Omodara served as the Iya Osun of Osogboland for five dedicated years, during which she exhibited remarkable leadership and unwavering commitment to the Osun worshippers community. Her wisdom, compassion, and dedication have left an enduring impact on the cultural heritage and spiritual well-being of Osogboland.”

Ifabode expresses his deepest condolences to the family, friends, Osun devotees and the entire Osogboland community.

He said, “Iya Osun Funke Omodara was not only a spiritual leader but a mother to us all. Her legacy will forever live on in the traditions she upheld and the lives she touched.”

“In accordance with the customs and traditions, the process of committing the body of Iya Osun Osunwede Funke Omodara to Mother Earth has began. A solemn and dignified farewell ceremony will be held to honor her memory, and the details of the funeral arrangements will be communicated to the community soon.”

The entire Osun devotees’ community is invited to join together to pay their respects and celebrate the life of Iya Osun Osunwede Funke Omodara.
