Osun N100bn Projects: PDP State Chairman, Group Trade Words Over Anti-graft Agency’s Comment

THE ruling party in Osun state, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has described the Osun Masterminds, as a “wailing group of the state’s All Progressive Congress (APC)” that is still bitter about the July 2022 electoral defeat.

Reacting to threats by the group to drag the state government to the anti-graft agencies over the recently unveiled multi-billion naira infrastructural plan and the past projects of the administration of Governor Ademola Adeleke, the party in a statement by its State Chairman, Hon Sunday Bisi said Osun Masterminds is so blinded by the loss of patronage it enjoyed under the former APC government.

Bisi added that the civil society group is “deaf and dumb to due process” compliance already ongoing on the unveiled plan.

“The public will recall that the state government has already announced an ongoing procurement process, bid advertisements have since been placed and a supplementary budget was already worked on by the State Assembly”, he explained.

“We dare the APC group to go ahead with its threat even as we affirm that Osun has moved on from an anti-development leadership to a pro-pepple , development focussed governorship. PDP is running a government of due process and transparency. We will not be distracted by rantings of political jobbers masquerading under civil society activism.” Bisi said.

Reacting to Bisi, the Osun Masterminds expressed disappointment over the PDP Chairman’s statement.

The group stated that “in the address we delivered yesterday, we mentioned that one of the groups in our coalition, the Transparency and Accountability Group (TAG), dragged the former government before anti-graft agencies. Mr. Bisi, or whoever wrote the unintelligent piece for him, did not read that part before attributing our sincere efforts to patronage from the APC. Pray tell, if we were indeed stooges of the past government, would we disagree with it to such extent?

The group emphasized that “we are not fighting government, we have only asked questions that overzealous people like Mr. Bisi should allow government answer”.

The group demanded answers on “the details of the sustainability plan for that 100 billion infrastructure plan, and failing to do so, which we will approach anti-graft agencies to come and look into your books.

“As we await a responsible, decorous and sane response from the State government, we advise detractors like Mr. Bisi to get lessons in democratic practice so they can stop acting like overpampered toddlers in a Democratic society like ours”, they concluded.
