This revelation was made public by MohBad’s Disc Jockey, Ajisegiri Ayobami, while testifying at an inquest set up to unravel the circumstances of the musician’s death.
Magistrate Adetayo Shotobi of the Candide Johnson courthouse, Ikorodu, Lagos, is presiding over the proceedings.
Lawyer representing the Aloba family, Taiwo Olawanle from the chambers of Femi Falana (SAN) presented the witness, who also deposed to a witness statement that was tendered and admitted as evidence.
In his testimony, the 23 year old said he has known the deceased since 2018 and started living with Mohbad since November 2022. He also said he became Mohbad’s personal disc shortly after the musician left Naira Marley’s music label.
The witness confirmed that they all went for a show at Ikorodu on September 10, 2023, and as they made to leave the venue, their Prado Jeep was blocked by other vehicles, causing them to wait for a while.
He added that he then saw MohBad come down from his Jeep to fight his friend, Primeboy, over an issue he disnt know about and in the process, he got injured on his arm, which was bleeding.
Ayobami told the court that though the wound was initially a small cut on his hand, on getting to their Ajah home, the affected hand had become swollen by midnight.
The witness pointed out that when efforts to call MohBad’s nurse to come over proves futile, one of their team members then suggested that he had a nurse who was eventually called upon to treat him at home. She was said to have administered some injections which made the deceased start vomiting and develop goosebumps.
While insisting that MohBad was very fine before the nurse came, he said the late singer had slept before he was administered the injections.
In the words of the witness, “There was water on the floor in MohBad’s room. I went to get a mop to clean the floor when his wife shouted my name from upstairs that I should come back.
“When I got there, I noticed that MohBad had collapsed and had vomited the Noodles that he had eaten, which was prepared by his brother, Adura,
and goosebumps were on his body.
“The nurse said we should go and get him drugs, and while we were at the pharmacy, I called the house to know how he was feeling, and they said I should come back.
“When I got back, they were already trying to put him in a neighbour’s car to get him to the hospital, but with the way I saw him, he was lifeless, his eyes were closed, and his hands were falling.
“When we got to the hospital, he was confirmed dead.”
The witness also testified to how he was severely beaten up by an associate of Naira Marley, Sam Larry at a club in June 2023.
He went to say that Some days before the deceased died, they went for a video shoot with another artiste, Zlatan, at Elegushi Beach, and that they were again harassed by Sam Larry and his boys.
“During the shooting, Sam Larry came with his boys and they scattered the whole place and they were also trying to injure the deceased. I ran to the car because I was scared while the deceased was being beaten. Sammy Larry insisted that we were not going to leave the beach until he killed one of us. Zlatan pleaded on our behalf and Sammy Larry threatened to kill us anywhere he saw us.”
The witness was further examined by other counsel including representing the Lagos state government, Nigeria Bar Association and the African Women Lawyers Association.
Mohbad’s parents also testified in court on Wednesday.
Further hearing is fixed for November 7.
