Osun: Adeleke Announces Public Accountability Platform, Releases New Projects To Transform State

THE Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke has announced a public accountability platform.

He made the announcement during the maiden edition of Ipade Imole, at the Aurora Event Centre in Osogbo, Osun state capital.

In his address, Governor Adeleke warned the warring factions in the Ifon-Ilobu communal crisis.

Also, Adeleke has directed the deployment of a joint peace keeping force to include military personnel to deal with those formenting conflict in both communities.

The governor announced that his administration has conceived of 332 boreholes across the 332 political wards as an intervention measure. Each borehole costs one million, five hundred thousand naira. The boreholes are functioning and serving the immediate water needs of our people.

Governor Adeleke also said that the N2 billion palliative fund will be spent on three projects and programmes namely additional buses to ease transportation cost, rehabilitation of health centres and the purchase of food items. Procurement order has been placed in line with due process.

On the pension debt, Governor Adeleke said that his administration has widened the coverage of the payment of pension debt. The contributory pensioners are now enjoying greater attention as accorded regular pensioners.

The white papers on disputed kingship are ready for presentation and approval of the State Executive Council. Governor Adeleke assured the people of Ikirun, Iree, Igbajo and other affected towns that the approved white papers will soon be released and gazetted.

To address the teachers’ shortage in schools, Governor Adeleke has directed the Ministry of Education to conduct a needs assessment as a basis for recruitment and filling of vacancies in schools.

He said the report will soon be ready. His government is also committed to the implementation of the report of the Education Summit.

On street lights at Osogbo, Governor Adeleke said that his administration has commenced the implementation of imole solar project to light up the capital city. The process is ongoing.

He assured the people that his administration has not and will not borrow to fund ongoing infrastructure upgrades. From bridges to dualisation of existing roads among other infrastructures, they are pursuing value for money and public private partnership. Their financial plan is sustainable.

On state spread in projects and appointments, Governor Adeleke said they ensure state character in their appointments and project distribution. All local governments and districts are factored into government plans and agenda.

On Governance

Governor Adeleke said they have demonstrated strong faith by ensuring the completion of many abandoned projects. He also retained many contractors inherited from previous governments.

Governor Adeleke said the people should expect the following new projects:

– Dualisation of roads at two per senatorial districts;
– Flyover bridges at Osogbo and some other towns;
– Street lights for newly constructed roads;
– Second stream of 332 boreholes across wards;
– Commencement of Imole transport service; and
– Imole Housing Estate at 500 units per federal constituency.

He thanked the people for their patience and support, and appealed for their continued understanding as they work to reset and stabilise the state.
