Ondo Crisis: Feud Between Akeredolu, Deputy Aiyedatiwa About Gov’ship Election – Counsel

VAM News Update

THE counsel to the embattled Deputy Governor of Ondo, Ige Asemudara, on Wednesday, said that the feud between Governor Rotimi Akeredolu and his deputy, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, is about the 2024 governorship election in the state.

The counsel who stated this during an interview on Channels TV’s Politics Today on Wednesday, noted that the state lawmakers should not be talking about impeaching the deputy governor when the governor is not fully fit.

He accused some members of the government of trying to do away with the deputy, adding that the lawmakers have refused to account for the oil derivation funds from the federal government.

VAM reports that the state House of Assembly on Monday served the deputy governor with an impeachment notice over gross misconduct.

The Counsel said, “One of the very serious issues we have in this country is abuse of legal process. In your introduction, you said maybe the political crisis in Ondo is about the next election. And I can tell you this is not unconnected with the permutations of the November governorship election in Ondo State.

“There are several other issues. As we speak, the governor is not of sound health so we should not be talking about impeaching the deputy governor. They are just trying to pave the way for some sort of anarchy.
