SSS grills CBN Deputy Governor, Obiora in connection with Emefiele’s trial

VOICE AIR MEDIA News Update

Kingsley Obiora, the Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, has reportedly been arrested by the Department of State Services (DSS).

This arrest is said to be linked to allegations of financial mismanagement during the tenure of Godwin Emefiele, who was suspended as the CBN governor.

Obiora holds the position of Deputy Governor responsible for economic policy at the apex bank. His apprehension coincides with an ongoing investigation into the activities of the Central Bank of Nigeria during Godwin Emefiele’s leadership.

Notably, Emefiele has been in DSS custody since June 10, 2023, following his removal from office by President Bola Tinubu. In July, Tinubu appointed a special investigator named Jim Obazee to oversee the probe into the apex bank’s affairs during Emefiele’s tenure.

As of now, neither the DSS spokesperson, Dr Peter Afunanya, nor the CBN spokesperson, Dr Isa Abdulmumin, has provided a response to inquiries.
