Narrating her ordeal in a video seen by newsmen, the househelp said that her mistress poured hot water on her after the pap turned watery when it was prepared.

She said, “She (her mistress) poured me hot water. I went and bought pap (akamu in Igbo language). I did not check well from the woman I bought the pap from, so it happened that the pap I bought was not good. When I prepared in the morning, it was watery and she became angry and shouted at me. She asked why it was watery and I told her it might be because the water was too hot.

“In the afternoon, I prepared it and it was also watery. She became angry and then prepared another by herself and the one she prepared was the same but a little bit thicker than the ones I did. She then asked why the one she prepared was thicker than mine and I said that I did not know; then she poured the hot water in the kettle she had on me.

“I quickly raised my cloth from my breast with force and that was when the wound on my breast opened. The wound on my lap (thigh) did not open immediately. It swelled up later and opened into a big wound.”
