Mubi Emirate People Appreciates FG Over Establishment Of Federal University of Agriculture In North East

THE people of Mubi Emirate which makes up Adamawa North Senatorial District wish to once again express appreciation to the Federal Government of Nigeria for the decision to establish a Federal University of Agriculture in the North East and for sighting it in Mubi. We believe this decision was taken in the best interest of the people of the North East and Nigeria as a whole. Mubi is an agricultural hub and a veritable host to agriculture related institutions since before the independence of Nigeria. We believe the University will leverage on that to advance the cause of both research and learning in agriculture and related disciplines.

This was contained in a statement jointly signed by Dr. Umar Duhu, Hajiya Bilkisu, Takatu Ahmed, Mr. John Papka Kaigamma, Hon. Ahmad Sajoh, Hon. Daniel Maksha, stated that in our struggle to ensure that the University is not relocated to another place we enjoyed tremendous support from a number of institutions and individuals whom we owe a debt of gratitude. We see this quantum of support as a justification of our struggle for equal treatment within the Nigerian political. For too long we have suffered neglect and unequal treatment without people standing by us. But this time it’s indeed totally different. We received massive support which we will never take for granted.

“Our gratitude goes to the President, Commander in Chief His Excellency Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu for giving our case a listening ear. We believe that with the full knowledge of the injustice and unfair treatment the proposed relocation would have amounted to, Mr. President being a fair and just person would never have supported it. Those who even toyed with the idea of relocating the University most by now be aware of the futility of their misadventure. We are also grateful to the Vice President of the Federation Senator Kashim Shetima who had aways considered Mubi his home and treated us with care and compassion. We are greatful to the Secretary to the Government of the Federation Senator George Akume for expressing an understanding of the issues around the attempted relocation of the Federal University of Agriculture, Mubi.

“We equally wish to register our deep gratitude and appreciation to the President of the Senate and all Distinguished Senators of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. The Resolution that was past in the Senate on the matter of the attempted relocation of the Federal University of Agriculture Mubi was indeed far reaching and protective of our collective interests as a people and also as a Nation desirous of ensuring equity, fairness and justice. The Speaker of the Federal House of Representatives and all respected Honourable Members are equally wonderful in passing a similar resolution to the one in the Senate. We deeply appreciate you all. We must also single out our Distinguished Senator Elisha Abbo and Member House of Reps Hon. Jingi Rufai for their promptness, determination and quality representation in this matter of Federal University of Agriculture Mubi.

The statement further reads that the Mubi Emirate council was also exceptionally proactive in this matter. His Royal Highness the Emir of Mubi Alhaji Abubakar Isa Ahmadu, CFR was fatherly as always. The three top Emirate council members that played active roles in Abuja must be commended. These are the Galadiman Mubi Professor Iya Abubakar, the Madakin Mubi Hon Abubakar Mahmud Wambai and the Wazirin Mubi Professor Abba Hassan. You were all exceptionally wonderful. Sirs we are indeed grateful to you all.

“We will not forget to acknowledge and appreciate the out pouring of support from several senior stakeholders including the leadership of the Sabondale Development Association and some key persons who made sacrifices to ensure that our voices are heard on this matter of the attempted relocation of the University. We will apologize for not mentioning names because they are too numerous to mention. We are also very grateful to our friends within the Media space. You all stood by us and gave us a voice that made it possible for this travesty to be avoided. Back home in Mubi and the entire Adamawa North Senatorial District many people stood up to be counted in the struggle. Our elders, our Women and our Youth especially those on Social media were all wonderful. We remain grateful.

“Let us end this statement by saying that it is not over until we all see to the eventual take off of the Institution in Mubi. Those who stood by us should continue to do so till we see to the commencement of operations of the University in Mubi. The Executive Branch of Government must commit to the establishment of the Institution by deploying the necessary frameworks and policy directives. The Legislature should support us by ensuring that adequate provisions are made in the National Budget to cater for the effective take off of the University. We will follow up, we will monitor and we will appreciate every effort made to actualize the University in Mubi.
