Nasiru Idris, governor of Kebbi, has sacked Babangida Sarki, his special adviser on youths, for reportedly posting homosexual content on his Whatsapp status over the weekend.
Ahmed Idris, the governor’s media aide, announced the development on Monday.
“The executive governor of Kebbi state, Nasiru Idris, relieved his special adviser on youths of his appointment, Babangida Sarki,” Premium Times quoted Ahmed as saying.
“The sacking of the SA was a sequel to an indecent posting he made on his WhatsApp status.”
Ahmed said the governor was “enraged by the obnoxious development” which negated the morals and values of Kebbi, a largely Islamic state.
He said Idris who is still attending Hajj in Saudi Arabia, relieved Sarki of his duties immediately he learnt of the development and cautioned other public officers against making such “heinous postings on their social media handles and other public fora”.
“The governor vowed that his administration would not condone any of such acts that denigrate the morality and integrity of the people of the state,” Ahmed added.
The governor’s media aide ruled out the possibility of Sarki’s phone being hacked, adding that the former aide was interrogated and “confessed that he uploaded the pictures himself”.
