Man arrested over threat to ‘kill all Igbos in Yoruba land’

OSUN State Police Command has arrested one, Kehinde Adesogba Adekusibe for violating the social media policy on hate speech by threatening to kill Igbos.

The suspect, Adekusibe who was paraded in the early hours of Friday at the State Command, was arrested in Ilesa where he has been hibernating since making some statements on his social media account.

Public Relations Officer of the Command, SP Yemisi Opalola, who addressed the Journalists said, said Command received the report of the hate speech on Social media.

“Police detective from Cyber crime section at SCID, Osogbo swung into action and through intelligence led investigation, suspect was arrested at Ilesa where he hibernated. The suspect has confessed to the crime and he will be charged to Court after the completion of investigation.” She said.

SP Opalola recalled that the suspect, Kehinde Adekusibe on his tweeted on his handle on 18th of May, 2023 where he said; “Let’s kill all the Igbos. Let’s flush them out of Yoruba lands. I hate these people with passion. They are violent people. They are worst. They hate us. Let’s hate them without holding back”.

Police Spokesperson added that the suspect has confessed to the crime, would be charged to Court after the completion of investigation.
