Former President, Goodluck Jonathan on Tuesday visited President Bola Tinubu at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Jonathan is the Head of the ECOWAS Mediation Team to Mali.
After the closed-door meeting, Jonathan told newsmen that he came to brief the president about some continental and sub-continental bodies.
He said he is the ECOWAS mediator for Mali as well as the Chairman of the West African Elders Forum and that as such, there are certain issues bordering on the continent and sub-region that he had discussed with various presidents.
In his words: “I came to brief the president about some continental and subcontinental bodies.
“I am the ECOWAS mediator for Mali and I’m the chair of the West African Elders Forum. So, there are certain issues bordering on the continent and the sub-region that I discuss with various presidents.”
Meanwhile, Tinubu met with representatives of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NAN).
He posted photos of the event on his twitter handle and wrote: “This afternoon, I enjoyed an invigorating meeting with the leadership of a few of the most prominent national student bodies in the country.
“Representatives of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), the National Association of University Students (NAUS), the National Association of Colleges of Education Students (NACES) and the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) were in attendance.
“Their support of the Access to Higher Education Act as well as this government’s pro-active approach to the fuel subsidy issue was most welcome.
“On my part, I reiterated the administration’s commitment to youth empowerment and social justice through meaningful inclusion in governance, affordable access to quality education, and the creation of gainful opportunities across all sectors of the economy.”
