Hundreds of youths drawn from different groups across 30 local government areas, on Saturday gathered in Osogbo, OSUN state capital, for 1-day Town Hall Dialogue, tagged; ”Connecting The Dots For Youth Development.”
Voice Air Media reports that a programme organized by the National Youth Council of Nigeria,(NYCN), Osun State chapter, under the leadership of Comrade Ajala Adetunji, has called on the state Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke to engage the Youths in his government.
NYCN also told the Governor to create Job opportunity, enabling environment for entrepreneurs and empower the youths in all spheres in Osun State.
Members of the Osun NYCN representing over one million youths across the state of Osun deliberated on three dots needed to be connected for the development of youths in the Osun State.
The first dot stated in the communique obtained by this newspaper was vision which was explained to be what will drive the youths to attain greater position so government and the youths should have a clear cut vision.
The second dot was capacity, stating that government should provide enabling environment which will promote the potentials of the youth that has the neccessary capacity.
The third dot stated that government should look into the implementation of the Osun Youth Development commission as there are established donors ready for partnership.
According to the communique “in the course of deliberations, three dots were concluded as ways to connect Osun youth for development of the state.
“1. Vision: For the better development of any youth, vision should be the first dot that Calaf Higents will drive her to attain a greater position. In the same vein, government and the youth must have a clear cut vision for youth development in Osun State.
“2. Capacity: The Youth were encouraged to build their capacity and more importantly Osun State Government should create an enabling environment which will promote the potential of the youth that has the necessary capacity. As such, this will motivate.
“The youth and serves as the energy to drive their vision.
3. Youth Development Commission: The Government should look into the implementation of the Osun Youth Development Commission as there are established donors ready for partnership.”
Dignitaries present at the stakeholders engagement were lawmaker-elect for Obokun State Constituency, Adewumi Adeyemi (Irekandu), Development expert, Bukola Idowu; lawmaker-elect for Odo-otin State Constituency, Hon. Wale Egbedun; Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Youths and Sports, Mrs Taiwo Oladunjoye and Chairman, Youth Advisory Council, Mr Ademola Sadipe, and others.
